In an email to those affected, the city of Essen carried out
"Dear Sir or Madam,
Unfortunately we have to inform you today that there was a data breach at the Essen vaccination center.
When the information was sent to around 700 Essen residents, whose appointment at the Essen vaccination center had to be postponed, personal data was sent in an attached Excel list as an attachment. Your personal data in the form of name, address, date of birth or, for example, the date of your vaccination were also part of this list.
The administration and the Essen vaccination center would like to apologize to you for this inconvenience. We responded immediately to this incident by calling back the emails. We have not succeeded in doing this in all cases. In addition, the recipients were informed immediately and asked to delete the email and the attached data.
The data protection department of the city of Essen is also informed and involved. And the state data protection department has also been informed of the incident.
