All newer diesel engines installed in Opel vehicles have been developed in cooperation with GM, Ford and Fiat. Due to the Volkswagen emissions scandal, Opel Automobile GmbH, among other vehicle manufacturers, also became the focus of the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA). For the Fiat, Peugeot and Citroën car brands - which also belong to the Groupe PSA - several institutes have already found excessive nitrogen oxide levels in real driving conditions.
Thus Opel tried by means of against by the Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt (KBA) arranged compulsory recall of the vehicles Opel Zafira 1.6 CDTi, Opel Zafira 2.0 CDTi, Opel Cascada 2.0 CDTi, Opel Insignia 2.0 CDTi with diesel engines to proceed. However, this attempt by Opel has failed. The Schleswig-Holstein Administrative Court has decided by a decision of the 09.11.2018 (Az .: 3 B 127 / 18) that the Federal Motor Transport Authority has rightly called for the recall of these models. This decision confirms once again that Opel has installed inadequate defeat devices in the Opel diesel cars.
